Featuring faculty from the Jacobs School of Music and Arts Administration as well as a representative from WBAA public radio, this panel discussion will highlight where your music industry education can take you. From the artist career, publishing, to A&R, to publicity, there are many career paths one can take in the music industry.

11:00 am- Current Issues in Media

This panel features Chris Kowalcyzk (Universal Music Group), Brad Holtz (WTTS), and Dmitri Vietze (rock paper scissors & StoryAmp) and will highlight the challenges and opportunities the music industry faces with new and advancing technologies. With the ever-changing music industry, which is becoming more digitized everyday, how does one make money from music? Ben Swanson (Secretly Canadian), Robert Meitus (entertainment lawyer/manager) Mike Garcia (The Greek Theatre), and Mark LaFay (artist manager/music marketing expert) will discuss new income streams for musicians and shifts from the recording business to the live performance business as well as the legal issues associated with this.
